Boy/Girl party

Also, this morning I was at my parents' and no one was home, so when the phone rang, I answered it. It was Grandma. She was surprised that I was there, which prompted questions about my new place. She asked if I was still planning to have a party on New Year's Eve. When I said yes she asked if we were going to have "girls AND boys" at the party. Inside my head, I was really laughing at this, but I calmly responded that both would be there. She said, "well I guess it wouldn't be much fun without the boys, would it?" Now I was just recently at an all girl party which was very fun, and I said as much, but really I have to agree.

Morning Blessing

So, a couple weeks ago when I took my car to TriCity Nissan to get the diagnostics done when my check engine light went on I had them check my squealy brakes. After working on my car for an incredibly long time, they told me that my rotors on my brakes were "dangerously thin" and I needed new ones. I didn't have that dealt with that day since I'd already been waiting so long. I made an appointment to have the work done at the dealership where I got my car--at the same time that I got an oil change. When I made the appointment, they had warned me that new rotors would cost me at least $250. Well, this morning's appointment didn't take long at all, and while I waited I got to eat free fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies. When they told me my car was ready, they said that my brakes are still like-new and all they needed was lubricant to keep them from squealing. So rather than having to spend about $300 this morning, it only cost me slightly more than $15 for my oil change.

Moral of the story--the dealership where I got my car is awesome, and Tricity Nissan are low-down dirty sneak thieves.

Special Treat

Yesterday afternoon Jessie and I watched Anne of Green Gables and Jessie told me she had a special treat for us.  She brought out two bottles of Raspberry Cordial that her parents had brought back for her from Prince Edward Island.

It's amazing how much my mood has improved the last couple of days. I'm sure it's largely due to the fact that I'm no longer working overnights, and also that I went dancing last Saturday night and had an absolute blast. It also helps that I have such great friends. Over the last couple months while I've been in the dumps so much, there have been many times I have sincerely thanked God for bringing such great friendships into my life, and that those friendships are continuing to grow.

My new schedule will take some getting used to, but it's refreshing to be working dayside again. Today was a quiet day in the store and my team was further setting up the Christmas stuff in seasonal (ridiculous, I know). I kept myself amused by mocking all of the hideously gaudy Christmas ornaments.

Two pieces of excitement for the day: 1.) I'll be looking at a place tonight for myself and 3 of those great friends of mine; and 2.) I got my new glasses! (no sunglasses yet.)

Nightmares

In college, I started dreaming in movie format and I started to contemplate making some money on the movie scripts for slice-em, dice-em horror films since the only dreams I tended to remember were my nightmares. Well, I went to bed last night thinking I would only have 4 hours to sleep, and the first 3 hours that I slept were a Freddie Kruegar flick--which is strange since I've never watched any Freddie Kruegar movies. Well it started out in a large room where I was mingling with some people when we became frightened because we realized that Freddie appeared to be asleep on some shelf above us. We apparently couldn't just get out of there, so we tried to stay as far away from his shelf as we could.
Next thing I remember, Freddie had woken up and selected 3 young women from the crowd and he was reassuring everyone that as long as the women did as he asked, 2 of them would not be killed. So, it suddenly turned into a reality tv show where these women had to complete tasks in order to stay alive. Freddie drew out the suspense as we all waited to hear who would live. He put a twist in at the end and killed the director of the show instead. But he also made it look like he had gone back on his word and was going to kill all the women (big surprise). At that point I had somehow become one of the three women. He didn't actually kill me. He killed someone who looked like me and made a big show of it. So then when people saw me, they treated me like Frankenstein and attacked me.
That was all I remember from the dream. But I couldn't wake up when I was supposed to because I was so exhausted from my nightmare and because I hadn't gotten nearly enough sleep the last 2 days, So I WAY overslept, and my day has not at all turned out as I expected.
